Daylight Saving Time Ends as Clocks Fall Back Giving an Extra Hour of Sleep in Miami Fort Lauderdale and Key West

Daylight Saving Time ends, with clocks set to move back one hour at 2 a.m. today, giving residents an extra hour of sleep. According to WSVN, this change will cause earlier sunsets across South Florida, with Miami and Fort Lauderdale seeing sunset at 5:38 p.m. and Key West at 5:46 p.m.

Standard time will remain in effect through winter until clocks move forward again in spring. NBC News reports that this year’s Daylight Saving Time began on March 9 and ends November 1. During this period, sunset times will continue to shift earlier as daylight hours shorten.

Not all states observe the change. Hawaii and most of Arizona, along with U.S. territories such as Guam and Puerto Rico, stay on standard time year-round.
