Student accused of striking security guard at Fort Lauderdale high school

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A 16-year-old student at Whiddon-Rogers Education Center in Fort Lauderdale was taken into custody this past Thursday after police say he struck a school security staff member during a disturbance in the cafeteria.

According to Fort Lauderdale police, a school resource officer responded to the incident around 1:05 p.m. at the school, located at 700 SW 26th St.
