Former State Rep. Roy Hardemon has passed away after being admitted days ago to the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) at Jackson North Medical Center in North Miami Beach. The cause of death has not yet been made public.
Born Aug. 12, 1962, in Miami’s Liberty City neighborhood, Hardemon emerged from modest roots. He was born and raised in public housing alongside his parents and 14 siblings before building a life of public service.
Hardemon won election to the Florida House of Representatives in 2016, representing House District 108 for two years. He then made two consecutive unsuccessful attempts to regain the HD 108 seat, and just last year ran for its neighbor, HD 109, but lost to incumbent Ashley V. Gantt…
