Last week, Taquería La Yaquesita was one of the few restaurants shut down for health and safety violations in Coral Springs this fall.
During a routine visit on Nov. 18, inspectors with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation spotted wastewater backing up through floor drains when the restaurant’s only hand-washing sink was used. According to the report, the drain is “located directly in front of [the] cook line and cannot be isolated from food prep areas.”
This is a serious violation, as it risks exposing food, utensils, equipment and employees to contaminants, according to the agency. It can also signal deeper problems with an establishment’s sewage system, including blockages and poor maintenance…
