Driver gives false identity to police due to supposed warrant out of Tallahassee

A Tamarac man was arrested for giving a false identity to an officer because he thought he had a warrant out of Tallahassee.

An officer stopped 28-year-old Arlist Quamaine Kenon at U.S. Hwy. 27/441 and Segal Street around 9:10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department. One of the headlights on his red Dodge Challenger was not working, prompting the officer to speak with him.

However, when asked for his license and registration, Kenon stated he did not have the former on him and that the latter was under his mother’s name. He also gave a false name and date of birth, which pulled up a record for a person that did not look like him. The officer then asked him to step out of the vehicle to compare the height of this 5 foot 8 inch person to Kenon, but his height of 6 feet 3 inches was much taller, the report said.

Assisting officers asked Kenon’s girlfriend, who was stopped nearby in a separate vehicle, what Kenon’s name was. She gave his real first name, and he was subsequently detained for further investigation. He ultimately told the police his true identity and advised that he lied because he had a warrant out of Tallahassee. A check revealed he had no active warrants, though, the report said…
