Broward County, FL – A 46-year-old Florida man was taken into custody after authorities say he stalked his ex-girlfriend, allegedly placed a tracking device on her car, and appeared at her home and workplace while sending threatening text messages.
Officials say the case highlights the dangers of stalking, harassment, and misuse of tracking technology.
Suspect Allegedly Stalked Ex-Girlfriend
According to a probable cause arrest affidavit, Brian Neilinger, 46, had previously dated and lived with the victim. After their recent breakup, Neilinger allegedly began harassing the woman repeatedly.
On Wednesday morning, the victim contacted the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, reporting that Neilinger showed up at her home and damaged a neighbor’s mailbox. She also described receiving nonstop, threatening texts from Neilinger.
Confrontation Outside Home
The affidavit details that Neilinger allegedly banged on the victim’s door at 5 a.m., screaming and acting belligerently. When the victim’s new boyfriend confronted him, Neilinger sped away in his truck, striking the neighbor’s mailbox…
