A Deerfield Beach woman is enveloped in allegations of preying upon senior citizens, amassing charges including exploitation and fraud. According to Local 10 News, Jamisha Shamari Sylvain, 26, engaged in deceptive practices to exploit multiple elderly individuals, leading to her arrest last week.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office reveals that the accused, in one instance, manipulated an elderly, blind woman outside her apartment in Deerfield Beach on September 27. Under the guise of assistance, Sylvain convinced the victim, hesitant as she normally relies on a friend to read her mail, to let her into her home at the B’nai B’rith Apartments. Gaining access, Sylvain probed for personal data such as the victim’s Social Security number and orchestrated a bank visit to alter the victim’s account which subsequently led to unauthorized credit card and phone number openings.
Compounding her actions, Sylvain has been tied to another exploitation case surfaced on November 25. According last Tuesday, December 23 a 78-year-old woman with dementia was brought on different occasions to a Chase Bank to withdraw sums of cash, totaling $1,718. Sylvain allegedly impersonated the woman’s granddaughter, a claim substantiated by the bank clerk identification and the woman’s son who oversees her affairs through power of attorney…
