DeKalb County Jail Escapees’ Court Dates in Fort Lauderdale Rescheduled Amid Kidnapping Charges

The court dates for three DeKalb County Jail escapees—Stevenson Charles, Yusuf Minor, and Naod Yohannes—have been postponed to January 16 in Fort Lauderdale. A federal judge approved a motion for a continuance. The three men, facing federal kidnapping charges after escaping during a security check in Georgia, will remain in Florida custody, according to Atlanta News First.

Following their escape, the three fugitives forced a rideshare driver to transport them from Georgia to Florida, threatening her and accessing her bank accounts. They were apprehended in Broward County shortly after midnight on December 23, 2025, FOX 5 Atlanta reported.

At a federal arraignment and pretrial detention hearing in Florida, the three men faced proceedings related to the alleged kidnapping of a rideshare driver. Authorities say they bound and threatened the driver during a trip from Georgia to Florida and accessed her financial accounts.
