Man accused of slashing victim on South Beach after asking for cigarette, phone

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Police arrested a man who they said is accused of slashing another man on South Beach late last year.

Officers with the Miami Beach Police Department said the victim was taking a walk on the beach near the 1700 block of Collins Avenue when he sat near a closed lifeguard tower. He was then approached by 24-year-old Jack Daniel Gutierrez, who asked for a cigarette.

When the victim replied that he did not smoke, Gutierrez asked if he could borrow his cellphone, to which the victim said he does not let people use his phone…
