A Parkland woman accused of orchestrating a wide-ranging student loan fraud scheme involving more than $147,000 has been taken into custody following a traffic stop earlier this month, according to court records.
Wei Hong La Femina, 48, the owner of Bright Education Institute in Dania Beach, faces multiple felony charges, including first-degree grand theft, fraud involving $50,000 or more, and numerous counts of identity theft. State records show La Femina is listed as the owner of multiple Florida businesses, including Bright Education Institute Corp., Phoenix Oriental Massage & Spa LLC, Palace Massage Inc., and UB Massage Inc., with several of the entities appearing under her name across multiple filings.
