A man turned on the heat in his Florida home for the first time in 35 years, only to hear a “boom,” then he and his wife realized their house was on fire.

On Monday, Feb. 2, around 3 a.m. local time, Hansy Auguste got out of bed in his home in Miramar and switched on the heat after his wife told him she was cold, CBS affiliate WFOR reported. Just a few minutes later, Auguste heard a loud sound and went outside to investigate.

“After the boom, she said, ‘What is it?’ I said, ‘I don’t know,’ ” the homeowner told the outlet. “And then I went outside, I looked, and I see the roof on fire.”…
