Storms packing small hail and wind gusts up to 50 mph are zeroing in on eastern Broward County this afternoon, prompting the National Weather Service in Miami to issue a special weather statement for Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood and Pompano Beach through 3:00 p.m. EST. Forecasters said storms moving into the coastal zone could briefly turn nasty, with strong winds and pockets of small hail.
