A Fort Lauderdale neighborhood woke to sirens early Saturday after what police are calling a domestic dispute turned into a shooting that sent one person to the hospital.

Officers were dispatched to the 2200 block of Northwest 21st Avenue shortly before 8 a.m. Fort Lauderdale police said they arrived around 7:50 a.m., found an adult with gunshot wounds and detained a suspect at the scene. Investigators at the scene told reporters the incident involved people who knew each other and described it as an apparent domestic dispute, according to Local 10. Police said the case remains active and that no additional information was immediately available.
