A worried passerby in Pembroke Pines, Florida, spotted a neglected dog near a school and acted right away.
The twelve-year-old dog, later named Clara, was in terrible shape. She was severely underweight, dehydrated, and covered in fleas and worms. Her eyes were swollen, she was completely blind, and an injury made it difficult for her to walk.
The passerby called the Pembroke Pines Police Department, and officers arrived quickly to scan Clara’s microchip. What they discovered opened the door to a painful and heartbreaking part of Clara’s past.
