Delray Beach condo association fires lawyer, claims ‘excessive’ fees

A bankruptcy case involving one of Palm Beach County’s largest 55-plus condominium developments has become even more convoluted with the community’s insolvent Recreation Association firing its attorney, claiming his fees are so excessive that the court should refuse to pay them.

The case involves Palm Greens condominium, which sits north of Lake Ida Road between Military Trail and Jog Road in suburban Delray Beach and has more than 1,400 residences.

“This is a straightforward case about a rogue lawyer who misrepresented his experience to the Debtor (the Recreation Association) at the outset of being hired and charged $93,861 for less than a month of work,” according to a filing by Mark Roher of Plantation, the association’s new lawyer…
