As Broward School Board mulls tax hike vote, union head says teachers should get any windfall

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A proposed referendum on the November ballot to increase taxes went up for discussion Tuesday at the Broward County School Board. The head of the teachers union is pushing for the money to be used to raise teachers’ pay.

“Budget better,” teachers’ union head Anna Fusco said. “Budget properly.”

The referendum isn’t a done deal. If the board moves forward, it could appear on voters’ ballots in November…
