South Florida can expect “unsettled weather” today, according to the NWS Forecast Office in Miami, with a cold front possibly producing scattered showers and thunderstorms across the region.
The NWS updated its forecast at 4:03 a.m. on April 20, predicting rainy conditions in the Lake Okeechobee area in the early morning and throughout the afternoon for the rest of the East Coast metro and Southwest Florida.
Possible hazards include heavy downpours and localized urban flooding, as well as windy conditions with gusts up to 30 or 35 miles per hour. Less likely but still possible is small hail, about the size of pennies…
