Sunrise apartment fire displaces 2 families

SUNRISE, Fla. — Firefighters in Sunrise battled a fire at an apartment complex that they say displaced two families early Saturday morning.

They said Sunrise Fire Rescue and Lauderhill Fire Rescue crews responded to reports of a smell of smoke inside an apartment building near the 5900 block of Northwest 16th Place. When crews arrived, they found heavy fire coming from multiple windows on the second floor of the complex.

Firefighters then launched an “aggressive fire attack” and were able to keep the flames from spreading through the attic and the rest of the second floor, officials said…
