New court filings in the lawsuit between WINK News and former WINK News Chief Meteorologist Matt Devitt reveal financial records, alleged gambling activity and testimony from former colleagues.
The filings, submitted in Lee County between May 26 and June 1, show the station moving to document alleged gambling and a “shadow” business venture, while Devitt’s legal team is probing how other newsroom employees were treated to argue the station enforced its rules unevenly.
WINK News, operated by Fort Myers Broadcasting Co. (FMBC), filed the $100,000 lawsuit in late March, arguing Devitt’s termination in January followed a pattern of misconduct and not, as he claimed, “a complete shock.”
