CAPE CORAL, Florida — A Cape Coral man has been arrested in connection with a retail theft investigation involving high-value Lego sets stolen from a local Walmart.
Tyler Dean Lovering, a 33-year-old resident, was taken into custody by the Cape Coral Police Department after detectives determined he repeatedly used barcodes for lower-priced items to purchase more expensive Lego sets at reduced prices from February through April 2026. The stolen sets, which included themes such as “Frozen,” “Harry Potter,” and “Star Wars,” ranged from $23.97 to $261.97, while the barcodes used during the transactions scanned between $4.00 and $4.97, according to a press release from the department.
The scheme occurred more than 12 times, causing a total loss of $1,354.61. Detectives discovered the stolen Lego sets at Lovering’s residence and in a storage unit.
