Lower rain chance for the Gulf Coast on Sunday

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Rain chances drop for the second half of the weekend when coverage will peak at only 40% Sunday afternoon. Some scattered showers and thunderstorms are still expected at times, but many spots stay dry.

Your Gulf Coast Weather Most Accurate Forecast still calls for a hot and humid day as high temperatures climb into the upper 80s and low 90s once again under partly sunny skies.

A coastal flood statement was issued for Collier County as minor flooding is possible in low lying areas due to elevated high tide. The statement is in effect from 10 am until 4 pm and high tide will be elevated due to the new moon phase. High tide will peak around 11:57 am at 3.4 feet. Low-lying roads and property could see minor flooding along the coast.

As we move into the work week, rain chances drop even more on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. We could still see some isolated showers and maybe a stray thunderstorm, but the bigger story this week will be the heat.

High temperatures will reach the mid-90s by Wednesday, and feels-like temperatures could exceed 105 degrees. Morning lows will also stay in the mid-to-upper 70s, meaning we won’t see much relief from the heat…
