PUNTA GORDA — After more than 10 years of bouncing from courtroom to courtroom, a lawsuit over the suicide death of David Szakalos at the Charlotte County Jail has been settled.
Ten years after the death of her husband, Susan Szakalos, learned last week she would be one of dozens of those who filed a lawsuit against jail contractor Corizon Health to share $2.5 million in a settlement.
David Szakalos was arrested Nov. 6, 2013. He eventually pleaded guilty to three counts of battery-related charges, and in 2016 and was sentenced to 15 years in prison…
