It’s nearly the Fourth of July, and if you haven’t made plans yet for how you’re going to celebrate the holiday, fear not. There will be plenty of Sarasota area events to choose from — more than usual, even, as this year’s holiday is a particularly significant one.
This year marks America’s 250th anniversary, or semiquincentennial, since the Declaration of Independence was adopted on July 4, 1776.
Many of this year’s Fourth of July events will also celebrate America’s 250th birthday, such as a new Spirit of ’76 event being held in downtown Sarasota’s Five Points Park on Friday.
