The New Seawall Behind the Canal House Went In Three Feet Out Into the Water. Florida Fined the Marine Contractor $7,500 and Let It Stay.

Behind a house on a man-made canal in Punta Gorda, in Charlotte County, the seawall was replaced with a new one about 75 feet long. According to a Florida Department of Environmental Protection order, the new wall extended about 3 feet waterward of the previous seawall face.

A complaint came in, and department staff inspected on February 10, 2022, under Complaint No. 37941. Four months later, on June 10, 2022, the house changed hands.
