Fort Myers, FL – Jonnetric Devonte Ivey, a 30-year-old resident of Fort Myers, pleaded guilty today to the possession of a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon. United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg announced that Ivey could face a maximum sentence of 15 years in federal prison, though a sentencing date has not been determined.

According to the plea agreement, on March 22, 2023, Ivey was pulled over by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office during a routine traffic stop. During the stop, Ivey made a suspicious throwing gesture before complying with the deputy’s demands. It was in the vicinity of this motion that deputies found a loaded Taurus pistol. Subsequent DNA analysis conclusively tied Ivey to the weapon. Given Ivey’s previous felony conviction, it is illegal for him to be in possession of firearms or ammunition under federal law. As part of his guilty plea, Ivey agreed to surrender the loaded pistol.
