Cape Coral City councilman pushes for voter control on council salaries

CAPE CORAL, Fla. – Cape Coral City Councilman Robert Welsh said he is working to put the council member’s wages back in the hands of the voters. Last night’s city council meeting started the same way it has for a while now. Many residents are still upset city council approved a stipend that nearly doubles their salaries from $40,000 to $80,000 a year. Even Michael Thompson, the Chairman of the Lee County Republican Party stopped by to give a message.
