Chery Childcare Center offers 24-hour day care

PORT CHARLOTTE — A new childcare service in Port Charlotte is offering something different: a 24-hour day care center through the week.

Chery Childcare is accepting applications for children aged from 3 months to 5 years.

The center operates Monday through Saturday, opening at 6 a.m. on Monday, and closing at 6 a.m. on Saturday. It’s at 3528 Depew Ave., Port Charlotte.

G. Pauline Chery-Guerrier and her older sister Ketsia Chery-Pierre co-founded the center due to their experience with “unconventional” schedules.

Each have 14 years of nursing experience, child care credentials, and two children of their own.

“All of my personal headaches are what made me start this place,” Chery-Guerrier said. “I’ve been through what many parents have been with their schedules, so I know how it feels. Also given my background as a nurse, I can make sure we handle small issues here and fast.”

Although Chery employees will stay in touch with parents throughout the day, they make sure to avoid overburdening parents with small issues like runny noses.
