Mochinut opens in Port Charlotte

PORT CHARLOTTE — Mochinut, a popular dessert shop that offers mochi donuts, Korean rice flour hotdogs, bubble tea drinks and soft serve, has come to Port Charlotte.

Lines were out the door on the shop’s grand opening.

Wait times ranged from 15 minutes to an hour, according to patrons.

Located in Village Marketplace, 1825 Tamiami Trail, next to Finnegan’s Grille and Pub in Port Charlotte, owner Don Vu said it’s a great location, especially for kids to hang out after school, since Books a Million is in the same strip.

“When I went to Books a Million, that’s located in the same plaza, with my daughter, I saw a bunch of kids laying on the floor and thought it would be a good idea for kids to lounge at my shop reading their favorite books, instead of laying on the floor, and they could have a place to hang out after school,” Vu said.

Vu also owns Essence Nail Spa2 in Port Charlotte.

“It’s been a crazy journey, but one day my wife wanted to venture out and we decided to try something different, and we knew someone who owned another Mochinut that recommended it to us,” Vu said.
