ENGLEWOOD — As February begins, Englewood takes some time to take a stroll down memory lane, showcasing its unique past.
The festival has been around since 2002, celebrating the arts, culture and history of the Lemon Bay area. Public libraries like Elsie Quirk and the Englewood Charlotte Library create a week of programing and displays for the public to enjoy.
Charlotte County Library Librarian Supervisor Lynda Citro said the week-long festival is a way to keep history alive in Englewood.
“It’s free to the public — and it all originally started out as a way to talk about history,” Citro said Thursday. “Englewood is a unique place with Charlotte and Sarasota counties, so we wanted this to bring the two sides together as a whole.”
Citro said there’s always something new to learn every year.
“We look for different ways to showcase our history,” she said. “I always learn something new each year.”
There’s a lot to see and do between Feb. 3 and Feb. 10., ranging from historical presentations to the Cracker Fair, set for Feb. 10 and put on by the Lemon Bay Historical Society at Pioneer Plaza.
