PUNTA GORDA — Firefighters responded to a house fire early Monday morning on Padula Street south of Punta Gorda.
The resident of the address was uninjured, according to authorities, but the structure was “destroyed” in the fire.
Charlotte County firefighters responded to a home in the 6200 block of Padula Street around 4:33 a.m. Monday, according to Charlotte County Public Safety.
By the time they arrived, the residence was already “fully engulfed in flames,” with the reported resident outside and relaying what had happened.
The resident told firefighters he was having trouble with a generator when the fuel line ruptured.
“Engines 5, 6, 7, Rescue 32, Support Truck 1 and Battalion 1 all responded to the fire,” Public Safety reported.
The resident is being assisted by Red Cross officials.
The State Fire Marshal also responded to the scene and is conducting an investigation.
