The Bailey Terminal expansion’s first phase will start on February 6, 2024. This phase includes the demolition of a small building south of the terminal. Passengers should anticipate temporary lane changes and potential traffic delays.
In February 2024, construction will also begin on a new baggage handling system. This system will upgrade the baggage screening process to meet TSA standards. However, passengers will not have access to this part of the building once completed in 2025.
The expansion project is a collaboration between AECOM and DeAngelis Diamond Construction, LLC. Future phases will involve moving and replacing the Rental Car Facility at the terminal’s north end.
The Bailey Terminal expansion and renovation aim to provide more space and improve passenger handling efficiency. The project will add approximately 51,500 square feet for waiting areas, extra gates, restrooms, and concessions.
The project also includes renovating about 30,500 square feet of the existing terminal. These renovations will expand the security screening area, arrivals, concessions, and other support spaces. The baggage screening project was featured on NBC-2 News in 2023.
