Hateful words at school meeting

Upon attending the Lee County School Board meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 6, I was appalled by the words of hatred and intolerance directed to our elected Board members.  Three men at different times closed down the meeting by their accusations and threatening words of hateful prejudice.  They were allowed freedom of speech by the “Public Comment” segment of the meeting.

I urge citizens of Lee County to attend government meetings to counteract such behavior when it appears. Hate has no place in our governmental meetings or anywhere it hurts lives of people like our elected officials.

Impressed by staff at DMV

“Up North” when you enter the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) you expect to be treated like dirt as you enter the “ninth circle of….” – well, you get my point. There are always long lines, short tempers and no organization. So, needless to say, I was apprehensive as I entered the Naples DMV.

I was pleasantly surprised. The wait is short, the staff is congenial and the organization is efficient. The employees act like they are glad to be there and happy to see you. Your needs are obviously paramount to them. My only problem was not their fault. After several “takes” for the license photo, I had to face the harsh truth – the photo “is what it is”!
