Shipping Post employees wear boxers to raise awareness

PORT CHARLOTTE — If you walk into either of The Shipping Post locations in Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda this month and see employees wearing underwear outside their clothes, don’t panic — it’s for a good cause.

The Shipping Post is teaming with The ARCHway Institute to support its annual drive to collect new underwear for adults in drug and mental health rehabilitation.

To raise awareness about the “underlying” needs of people in rehab, employees will be wearing boxers outside their clothes on certain days throughout February, according to owner Mark Drayton.

An an added incentive, The Shipping Post offers $5 off the price of any package shipped through UPS, FexEx or DHL Express to any customer who donates a new pair of men’s or women’s underwear.

The ARCHway Institute is a Punta Gorda-based organization dedicated to helping people recover from addiction.

“Sometimes the resources needed are as simple as a pair of underwear,” said Chairman Dan Stuckey. “However, it takes an entire community to help break down those many barriers that people face in getting started on this journey. We are amazed and thankful for all the passion and visible support we are getting from businesses and organizations like the Shipping Post. This underwear drive will make a difference for many.”
