The second Sunlight Mission Health Fair and Cookout is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 23 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. It will be held at the Port Charlotte Public Library and is organized by Charlotte County Libraries & History. The event aims to assist homeless, low-income, and financially vulnerable residents in Charlotte County.
The fair will host various organizations that focus on mental health improvement, affordable medical services, stable housing, and financial stability. Hana Brown, the librarian supervisor at the Port Charlotte Public Library, highlighted the need to provide struggling individuals and families with resources to enhance their health and life quality.
Attendees can avail of free services such as blood pressure and blood sugar level checks, mental health and substance recovery education, and assistance with basic needs like food, clothing, and housing. Other services include haircuts, mental health screenings, smoking cessation, substance and STD screenings, alcohol abuse education, immunizations, and suicide prevention.
