Friends ask for help for family in fatal crash

ENGLEWOOD — Kayleigh Foley was driving home Friday night with her two daughters — Ariel, 3, and Lola, 6 months — when a motorcyclist crashed into their SUV.

The children were transported to a hospital for care, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The motorcyclist died at the scene.

Peggy Coates is a longtime friend of the Foley family, and has started a GoFundMe account to help them pay for medical expenses.

Coates has been providing updates on the status of the family since the crash.

According to Coates statement online, Lola was given CPR at the scene by Charlotte County Sheriff’s Sgt. Dave Musgrove, and was airlifted by helicopter to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg.

She sustained skull fractures and has been suffering from seizures due to brain swelling.

Ariel was released with minor cuts and bruises, and is staying with family.

Kayleigh Foley was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital. She was released from the hospital Monday. She is now with her daughter at All Children’s, along with the Lola’s grandmother, Lisa Foley. The family is staying at a Ronald McDonald House near the hospital.
