PUNTA GORDA — Kelly Schiano and Everett Michael Harper will remain jailed until their cases are resolved, according to court documents.
Schiano and Harper are charged with conspiracy to commit homicide in connection with a double-killing of Schiano’s husband and another man on Trails End Drive in rural Charlotte County.
Circuit Court Judge Shannon McFee granted a motion from the State Attorney’s Office to hold both in pretrial detention. Both were previously denied bond.
Mario Schiano and Anthony Galeotti, an employee of the Schianos, were found dead by first responders at the Schiano family home off Washington Loop Road.
The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office has released few details about the slayings, but authorities stated the two were targeted.
Neither Kelly Schiano, 37, nor Harper, 41, have been charged with homicide as of Wednesday.
At a news conference last week, Charlotte County Sheriff Bill Prummell hinted leads in the case and possible other suspects may be pursued.
The ongoing investigation led CCSO and the State Attorney’s Office to file a motion to seal the arrest affidavits for both defendants, which was later granted.
