TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida man was arrested Thursday in connection with his grandfather’s shooting death in December, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office.
Joshua Nareau, 23, allegedly shot and killed James Khoury with a rifle in the early hours of Dec. 28 at a home along Matecumbe Road, according to the sheriff’s office.

There were no witnesses and no surveillance video, however, deputies were able to identify Nareau as a person of interest, according to the sheriff’s office.
Evidence collected was sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for testing, which led to the arrest of Nareau, deputies said.

“This does not make it any easier for the family of the victim, who now have even more grief to cope with, but I hope it brings peace of mind to the community once more,” Sheriff Bill Prummell said in a statement. “Please pray for Mr. Khoury’s family as they navigate this unthinkable situation.”
