As we say goodbye to July and greet August, we’re currently in what’s the slowest time of the year for Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte counties, as snowbirds have departed and even some local businesses close up to go on vacation. Yet that doesn’t mean you’re out of luck if you’re a year-round resident looking for things to do locally.
Summer movie series, laser light concerts set to music, circus shows and more will continue in August (with several concluding this month, so here’s your last chance to catch them.) Numerous back-to-school events will also take place throughout August, before the month comes to a close with the start of Labor Day weekend festivities, including a 76th annual sailboat regatta.
