10 new or newly reopened restaurants from Cape Coral to Fort Myers Beach

September is a notoriously slow month on the Southwest Florida dining scene .

Which is why some restaurants — from Leone’s and Papa Joe’s in Cape Coral to Cape Cod Fish Co. and Osteria Celli in Fort Myers — will close for days, weeks or even the month.

But for every late summer vacation, there has been a rash of restaurant openings or reopenings recently.

From a German food truck on the way to Fort Myers Beach to a sweet new shop in Cape Coral, here’s a quick look at the newest restaurants heating things up.

German Sunshine Grill

It’s easy to zip past this food truck on the way to Fort Myers Beach. But look for the German flag and tropical picnic tables along San Carlos Boulevard at Getaway Marina and you’ll find it serving doner kebab, yufka wrap, doner plate, bratwurst with sauerkraut, knackwurst and more. The truck, which held its grand opening Sept. 1, is so new that three of the sides still bear the name of the previous venture. But don’t worry, you’ll find it open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. 18400 San Carlos Blvd. at Getaway Marina on Fort Myers Beach. (239) 469-3008, follow on Facebook
