Fort Myers man faces federal charges stemming from Papa John’s armed robbery

A Fort Myers man faces charges in federal court after authorities connected him to a recent armed robbery at a local Papa John’s restaurant.

Shadarius Ward, 22, faces charges of armed robbery with a firearm.

Fort Myers police in a Tuesday press release announced that the United States Marshals , along with the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, and support from police, took Ward into custody on a federal arrest warrant stemming from the armed robbery with a firearm, that happened at Papa John’s on Sept. 1.

Police said they arrested Ward on Sept. 10.

After the robbery and battery on an employee the evening of Sept. 1, police detectives began investigating.

Due to the violent nature and other aggravating factors associated with Ward, police said, the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms adopted the case. They did not expand on the details of the robbery.

Ward was transferred to federal custody.
