PORT CHARLOTTE — Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested two teenagers after they were linked to a string of vehicle thefts and burglaries.
In two of those alleged cases, authorities said, firearms were stolen.
The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office issued a news release Tuesday regarding the arrest of two minors for several open investigations.
Charlotte County Sheriff Bill Prummell stressed that acts the teenagers are accused of committing go far beyond youth indiscretion.
“Everybody did something when they were kids that they wish they could take back,” he stated in the news release. “Unfortunately, when that thing happens to be a string of felonies, it can change your life’s path forever…I hope that this serves as a wakeup call for them, and for any others who would consider doing something like this.”
Deputies responded to a Port Charlotte residence Monday after a caller alleged their car had been stolen overnight.
According to the news release, deputies learned the vehicle was seen driving into Punta Gorda around 3:30 a.m. Monday and then returning to Port Charlotte three hours later.
