CCSO: Two injured in shooting at gas station

PORT CHARLOTTE — Two people were transported from the scene of a shooting at a gas station near the Port Charlotte/North Port border.

“Two people were transported with injuries,” Charlotte County Public Information Officer Christopher Hall said. “I don’t know what those injuries are or how they were obtained but they were transported to be treated for those injuries.”

Hall said they are looking into “all tips.”

The two people transported “were the two people involved,” Hall said.

He was unable to note their residency.

“It could be several hours long; it all depends on what they uncover in the investigation.”

Authorities were unable to provide more details into what transpired.

North Port Police assisting in the investigation, he said.

“We believe at this time that everything occurred on our side of the county line,” Hall said.

Charlotte County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Wawa at U.S. 41/Tamiami Trail near the North Port-Port Charlotte line on Wednesday morning.

For hours, traffic was stopped or slowed while the investigation was ongoing in the Cornelius and Salford boulevards area along with U.S. 41/Tamiami Trail.
