Webcams: See Fort Myers area traffic, beach conditions ahead of possible Hurricane Helene

Hurricane, tropical storm and storm surge watches have been issued for portions of Florida’s Gulf Coast as Tropical Storm Helene threatens to slam into Florida as a Category 3 hurricane, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Tropical Storm Helene is expected to strengthen into a hurricane Wednesday, Sept. 25, before making landfall Thursday, potentially with 115-mile winds and devastating storm surge.

Gov. Ron DeSantis expanded a state of emergency Tuesday from 41 to 61 of Florida’s 67 counties, including all of the Florida Panhandle.
