Woman killed in Fort Myers hit-and-run; Fort Myers police search for pickup driver

A woman is dead and the accused driver on the run after authorities say a red pickup struck her and fled the scene.

Fort Myers police’s traffic unit seeks public assistance in locating the pictured vehicle. Police said the pickup was involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash around 10:20 p.m. Tuesday.

Police said the crash happened in the area of Colonial Boulevard and Fowler Street, near the Wawa gas station.

Authorities said they are searching for a four-door red Toyota Tacoma that will have damage to the front passenger headlight and front passenger bumper.

At least 94 people have been killed in Lee County crashes this year.
