Sometime today I’ll be back home.
Maybe.
That’s if, Lord willing, I find enough gas for the car, don’t run into bad traffic or have an accident.
When I left 10 days ago, it was for a vacation in the Carolinas visiting friends. Milton was only a tropical depression then. I wasn’t worried.
That changed after a couple of days away. Milton grew, obviously, and my anxiety swelled along with the winds and rain it brought toward Florida.
I’m not going to whine about the fact my vacation turned into a disaster, as both the wife and I got sick — probably from worry about our home and friends back in Florida.
I’m just going to be thankful our new “manufactured” home sustained very little damage and the great folks looking after our pets are safe, along with the rabbits and the dogs.
We were lucky.
So many weren’t, and I feel for them.
When we bought our manufactured home I was hesitant because of hurricanes and the stories you hear. Would it really stand up to 140 mph wind?
Well it stood up to Milton, even though it slowed down to much weaker winds by the time it reached us. So you can count me as someone who will vouch for the sturdiness of the newer manufactured homes.
