A Florida community is coming together after a restaurant in Cape Coral, Florida burned down one day after reopening post-Hurricane Milton.
On Thursday night, the Boathouse Tiki Bar and Grill reopened over a week after Hurricane Milton slammed into central Florida . The storm brought raging winds and pounding rains and storm surges.
As employees were closing the restaurant after their first day back a fire broke out, the Cape Coral Fire Department said. While everyone was able to get out safely, the restaurant was destroyed, Fox News affiliate KDVR reported . Officials said the restaurant’s thatched roof, fully restocked alcohol, and wind made the fire a challenge to extinguish.
