Popular Florida restaurant burns down on day it reopened after Hurricane Milton

A Florida community is coming together after a restaurant in Cape Coral, Florida burned down one day after reopening post-Hurricane Milton.

On Thursday night, the Boathouse Tiki Bar and Grill reopened over a week after Hurricane Milton slammed into central Florida . The storm brought raging winds and pounding rains and storm surges.

As employees were closing the restaurant after their first day back a fire broke out, the Cape Coral Fire Department said. While everyone was able to get out safely, the restaurant was destroyed, Fox News affiliate KDVR reported . Officials said the restaurant’s thatched roof, fully restocked alcohol, and wind made the fire a challenge to extinguish.

Fire inspectors have not determined the cause of the blaze, but they have not ruled out that it was electrical. Restaurant officials have not released any information regarding the incident.
