Pasco County, FL – A serious injury crash occurred on Blanton Road on the morning of October 26, 2024, involving a Jeep Renegade and a Yamaha motorcycle. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the accident took place around 9:48 a.m. just east of the I-75 overpass.
A 37-year-old man from Fort Myers was driving the Jeep Renegade westbound on Blanton Road. Meanwhile, a 34-year-old Zephyrhills man was traveling eastbound on a Yamaha motorcycle. FHP reports that the driver of the Jeep attempted a U-turn, inadvertently entering the path of the oncoming motorcycle. This resulted in a collision that ejected the motorcyclist from his vehicle.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene, and the motorcyclist was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Fortunately, the Jeep’s driver and its passengers were unharmed.
FHP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, reminding drivers to exercise caution when making turns and to be vigilant of oncoming traffic.
