PUNTA GORDA — The city of Punta Gorda’s planning department is losing its director, urban design manager and urban planner.
Additionally, the city’s code enforcement manager also resigned.
The City Council recently approved two new planning positions in the 2025 budget, meaning there are five openings in the planning/urban design department.
According to the city’s Planning Director Lisa Hannon, she’s leaving the city after 20 years.
“It’s bittersweet for me,” she said. “I am leaving a little sooner than expected. I have to consider my retirement goals. I’ve taken a job in Texas, and I have to do what’s right for me and my husband.”
Hannon, who made $111,814.40, said she’s giving two-months notice. The range for the position is $107,078.40 to $171,350.40.
City Urban Design Manager Austin Mitchell and Planner 1 Brittany Metzler’s last day is Friday.
Mitchell, who celebrated his 20th year with the city this year, was on the PORCH board — a community land trust that provides affordable housing to veterans and others.
