PUNTA GORDA — After years of bringing in crowds of music lovers and veteran supporters, James Isaac is the Military Heritage Museum’s new executive director.
Isaac, who has a performing arts background, was the Gulf Theater manager at the museum for more than five years.
The theater space is available for concerts, special events, seminars, anniversaries, weddings and military services. It brings in revenue needed to operate the $1 million museum annually.
“James’s passion for the museum is deeply personal, rooted in his family’s history of military service, including his grandfathers’ who served in the Army and other relatives who have also served,” said Lynne Matthews, museum president in a statement. “He is committed to honoring veterans and ensuring their stories are preserved for future generations.”
Isaac said he hadn’t thought about leading the museum until after Derek Knuffke resigned for medical reasons.
“Being the longest employee at the museum, I believed it was time to step up,” Isaac said.
