Jennifer Bucher-Kolak lives down the road and said the gunfire jolted her out of bed.

“I thought first stand back from the windows because it was really closer, like right outside, and I asked my husband to call 911 for the gunfire we heard,” she said.

Then, Bucher-Kolak says she saw a man run behind her house.

“Within two minutes, after the gunfire stopped, he came out and started walking in the direction the gunfire came from, so we gave a description to 911 of what he looked like,” she explained.

She and other neighbors say they’ve seen frequent overnight parties at the short-term rental and want it stopped.

According to Cape Coral’s short-term rental rules, a property must be occupied for at least seven days at a time.
